What it is

A layered skin-renewal treatment combining controlled microneedling with a carefully selected peel to support smoother-looking texture, more even-looking tone and a refreshed complexion. Your skin is assessed first so the approach can be adapted to your goals.

How it works

The two work on different levels. Microneedling addresses texture and firmness through the skin’s own renewal response, while the peel works on the surface and on tone. Sequencing and peel strength are decided at consultation, because combining the two is more active than either alone.

Good fit for

  • Texture and tone concerns appearing together
  • The appearance of acne scarring alongside uneven pigmentation
  • Anyone who has tolerated either treatment well on its own

Suitability is assessed individually at consultation. Some treatments are not appropriate for everyone.

Your treatment journey

  1. Consultation and suitability assessment, including a review of medication and skin history.
  2. Preparation, which may include a home routine beforehand.
  3. Numbing, then microneedling at depths chosen per area.
  4. The selected peel applied and timed closely.
  5. Calming, protection and a detailed aftercare plan.

Results and what to expect

Because two approaches are layered, the settling period is longer than for either alone. Expect visible flaking. Changes to texture and tone build over a course of three to six sessions and vary between individuals.

Safety and common effects

Most people notice some of the following. They are temporary and expected rather than a problem:

  • Redness and warmth for 24 to 72 hours
  • Noticeable flaking between days two and five
  • Skin feeling tight and more reactive than usual for about a week

Before you book. Suitability is assessed individually at consultation. Some treatments are not appropriate for everyone. Tell your practitioner about any medication, skin condition, allergy or recent treatment at consultation rather than on the day.

Aftercare

Follow the combined-treatment aftercare, not the single-treatment version. No make-up for 24 hours, no picking, no actives for a week and strict daily sun protection.

Common questions

Why combine them rather than have them separately?

They address different things — texture and firmness through microneedling, surface tone through the peel. Combining them in one appointment suits some goals, but it is not right for every skin, which is why suitability is assessed first.

Is the downtime worse than microneedling alone?

Yes, generally. Plan for a longer settling period and more visible flaking.

How long before an event should I book?

At least three weeks, so flaking has fully finished and the skin has settled.

Do I need a patch test?

Your practitioner may recommend one depending on the peel selected and your skin history.

How many sessions?

Three to six spaced four weeks apart is typical, and reviewed as you go.

Can I add dermaplaning?

There is a package that includes it. Whether it suits you is decided at consultation.
