What it is
A treatment that applies a liquid carbon layer to the skin before passing a laser over it. The carbon settles into the surface and into pores, and the laser targets that carbon — lifting away debris and oil as it goes.
How it works
Carbon is applied and left to settle. The laser then passes across the treated area in stages. Because the energy is drawn to the carbon, the treatment concentrates on the surface and the pore openings rather than the deeper skin.
Good fit for
- Oily or congested-looking skin
- Enlarged-looking pores across the nose and cheeks
- A refreshed appearance with no recovery time
Suitability is assessed individually at consultation. Some treatments are not appropriate for everyone.
Your treatment journey
- Cleansing and eye protection fitted for both you and the practitioner.
- Carbon layer applied and given time to settle.
- Laser passes across the treatment area.
- Calming serum, moisturiser and sun protection.
Results and what to expect
Skin generally looks clearer and more even straight afterwards. For congestion and pore appearance, a course spaced two to four weeks apart tends to give a more lasting change than one session.
Safety and common effects
Most people notice some of the following. They are temporary and expected rather than a problem:
- Warmth and mild redness for a few hours
- A light tingling during the laser passes
Before you book. Suitability is assessed individually at consultation. Some treatments are not appropriate for everyone. Tell your practitioner about any medication, skin condition, allergy or recent treatment at consultation rather than on the day.

Common questions
Does it hurt?
Most people describe a warm snapping sensation that is easily tolerated. Tell your practitioner if it feels sharp and the settings can be adjusted.
Can I have it on the day of an event?
You can, though allowing a day is more comfortable in case of mild redness.
Is it suitable for darker skin tones?
Suitability depends on your individual skin and history, which is assessed before treatment. Settings are adjusted accordingly.
How many sessions will I need?
For general brightness, one is often enough. For congestion, a course of four to six is more typical.
Can I combine it with dermaplaning?
Yes, and this is offered as a package. The order and spacing are decided by your practitioner.
